Unforgiveness is a cancer to the spirit and the soul and if left undealt with will destroy anyone. Wow, what a powerful statement. God thought unforgiveness was such a big deal that He said in Matthew 6:15 “if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” That’s a pretty monumental declaration to make. So, what is the “ying” to the unforgiveness “yang”? It is thankfulness.
How can you be thankful for the person that hurt you? How can you be thankful for the detrimental circumstances that you are in? You might ask. It’s not as much “how”, as it is “why” are you to be thankful. Life is difficult at times and throws us curves we never saw coming and can hurt us really bad. However, God has provided us with a way of living in victory and not as victims of this life.
Philippians 4 tells us to “rejoice in the Lord always.” It also says that “in everything by prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God; and the peace of God, will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.” That is a perspective that can only come from God. If we want to choose thankfulness over unforgiveness we must do it God’s way or we will never be the man or woman God has destined for us to be.
Pastor Allen passionately illustrates and teaches how it is our choice to choose thankfulness or unforgiveness and either reap the benefits or suffer the consequences of our decision.
