You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.  Jesus Christ 33 A.D. This wasn't some nicety that Jesus said while He was here on this earth it was a declaration of who He was.  Since the dawn of mankind Satan has been lying to humanity to keep them in bondage.  He lied in the Garden by telling Adam and Eve that they were not like God.  What he didn't tell them was if they ate of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil then they would then become like him, having the propensity of sin and the most vial act of sin within their very nature.  He has stopped since then telling his lies.  He saying the same thing just in a different way.  However, the Ancient truths that are set in eternity by the hand of God still stand today, no matter what lies are being told.
