God created us in His image in the fact that we are a triune being. We are a spirit, soul, and body.
We were created body-soul-spirit, but we must live in the order of spirit, soul, then body.
Unfortunately, our culture has taught us to live body-soul-spirit or soul-body-spirit or body-soul
and omitting the spirit all together. When we live body first, then soul and spirit, we always create havoc.
Why? Because our body is unpredictable and our emotions are fleeting. They are up and down,
inconsistent, erratic, and unstable. When we allow our emotions or our feelings to dictate to us
how we treat and lead our family, it will always produce chaos and destruction. Why? Because our
emotions or our body were never meant to be leaders, only followers.

The family is God’s idea. It was not mankind’s idea. When God created Adam, He said,
“It’s not good for man to be alone.” Then He created Eve. It wasn’t just about husband and wife,
but about family. He told them to be fruitful and multiply, thus instituting the family. However, in
today’s American culture, most people don’t know how to do family according to how God initially
intended.  When we say “family” it brings to mind a myriad of thoughts-- some good and some bad.
God wants us to build a family. He has provided us with the blueprints to be able to have a successful
family. In His Word, the Bible, He has outlined what we need to do and who we are to be in order for
us to have amazing families.

Faith is no good without works, according to James, Jesus’ brother. That’s what he says in James 2:26.
Faith is dead without works. But when we put our faith in [we cling to, rely upon] Jesus, works follow the
life of God that is inside of us. Just like a woman who is pregnant gets cravings and “needs” pickles and
chocolate right now, the life inside of her demands actions. If the life of God is on the inside of us, it will
demand action. However, that action comes naturally because the life of God is there.

Truth, what is it?  A question we have been asking for centuries, most significantly in the last century.  Why should we be concerned with truth, what it is or what affect it has on mankind?  Aldous Huxley was  a 20th century English writer and philosopher who was widely acknowledged as one of the pre-eminent intellectuals of his time.  He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in seven different years.  He said that ...if there is no meaning to life then that philosophy, is essentially an instrument of liberation, sexual and political.   Thousands of others have spoken about truth and what it is or what it isn’t.

We will each encounter suffering as we go through life. There is no doubt. The question is not will you go through trials, but when you do go through trials do you look for answers or do you look for hope? Our hope lies in God who promises to never leave us nor forsake us. It is our hope in Jesus Christ that is the anchor to our souls (Hebrews 6:19) that is sure and steadfast during storms of trials and suffering.

Life has this way of overwhelming us at times. If you have not had life throw you a curve, just wait. It will. Are those statements of unbelief and lack of faith? Absolutely not. What we must do is to learn to have faith in God in the midst of life’s overwhelming moments.

God has compared the Church of Jesus Christ to a family. Family has a lot of different meanings to many people, depending on how we grew up. However, God outlines in His Word how we are to do family. When you are in a family, you are going to have problems with each other. Why? Because we are human and have our own free will. We will be offended and hurt; that is a fact. But God has told us how to deal with anger, offense, and hurt.

The family in America and in our world has been stripped down to where it is not recognizable by anyone as having any value in their life. At least that’s what they think and believe, but not necessarily what is true. We all need family and, whether we like it or not, we are all in a family. So if that is the case, we need to learn how to do family, or actually how we should BE family.
