Our ways are not God’s ways. Our thoughts are not His thoughts. Our values are not His values, but His ways, thoughts, and values can be ours. If we are ever going to affect change in our world and see it happen in our own lives we are going to have to value what God values. So the question you and I need to answer is, “What does God value?”

We live in a culture in the U.S. that values investing in the financial system. Getting ready for our kids’ college, purchasing a home, saving for retirement. We are always investing in something. God is also an investor. He has invested so much in us as His children that He not only expects a return on His investments, but He knows it’s simply natural to get a return. However, we are more than money to be invested. We are His children that have His blood flowing through our body; His nature in us, His love compelling us, all this and more He has poured or invested in us.

Selfishness is nothing more than a common attitude in our world, the church included. Living to give your life away is an uncommon attitude in our world. We as lovers of Jesus Christ and children of God ought to die empty. We must give all that He has placed in us and given to us to our families, our communities, our country, and our world. We must refuse to be blessed just to consume it on our own self. We must not make the assumption that what we have is for our consumption. The American economic system and government sees us as consumers when God sees us as givers. We are people who have a responsibility to affect, effect, and infect our world with hope, love, peace, and all God has placed within us.

We as Christians are called to demonstrate to the world who God is. But most Christians use the excuse that they aren’t perfect to not take the responsibility and accountability of showing the world who God really is. Jesus never told us to be perfect but He did say that He would make us perfect. And it is through that power we can be Jesus to the world.

The presence of God is a foreign and mystical thing to the world and unfortunately to most “Christianity”. His presence is not some ethereal, strange or eerie experience. His presence is a staple if we are ever to live the uncommon life that He has destined for us.

Revelation knowledge will always change the way you live. You will either live in the revelation or run from it. If we are to ever live an uncommon life we will have to have revelation of who God is, not just what He does or has done. He is desirous to reveal Himself to you. When He does, it will give you understanding and wisdom to know His direction for your life, His ways, and most importantly His heart.

God has called His people to be peculiar, different, outstanding, unique, uncommon. We are to live in such a way that we stand out from the world around us. We are more than an apple among oranges. We are to be so diametrically opposed to the world around us that not only do we know it but the world stands up and takes notice. God hasn’t called us to be incognito. He wants to reveal Himself to us so that we can reveal who He is to the world.
