Satan is a liar and deceiver.  There is no truth in him.  If he is talking he's lying.  As followers of Jesus we must be careful that we don't fall prey to Satan's schemes and traps.  One of Satan's greatest traps is to cloak selfishness and self-awareness as if is was a tribute God gave us.   It was the consequence of Adam and Eve's disobedience.  We are deceived into believing that since everybody is looking out for #1 then we should as well.  God has called us to take up our cross daily.  Our old man is dead and Jesus is Lord of our life and not us.  We aren't in control but His Holy Spirit is or should be.

Until our innocence was stolen with a lie.  Actually it was several lies.  The serpent deceived Eve into doubting what God had said and then he lied about who they were.  Everything after that was downhill.  Until that final hill where Jesus paid the ransom that only He could pay.  And now we have our innocence back, be it spiritual it was that day in the garden Adam and Eve died spiritual and passed it down to every man and women since.  But Jesus is better and greater than the Garden.
