This is probably one of the most famous parables Jesus told. Also, one of the few that He explained to His disciples. The pragmatism that Jesus uses with this parable transcends all ways of thinking. It would seem obvious to all people how this applies to our lives but Jesus thought it worthy of explanation. The intentionality that the sower used for planting the seed determined it's outcome. You don't get what you don't plant. We must be deliberate in our walk with Jesus and with our sowing the seed of the gospel in people lives that we come across everyday.

The American Dream has been interpreted in so many ways. Unfortunately, we have used that dream to interpret the Bible instead of the other way around. When Jesus said in John 10:10 that He would give us "abundant life" He wasn't referring to the American Dream. Obviously America wasn't in existence yet. He was referring to the hope, joy, love, and peace that having a relationship with Him would bring. He wasn't referring to possessions, fame, money, or any of the American culture snares that so easily trap us. What about the dream God has for your life? I am absolutely certain it's better than your could every imagine.

God is a giver. It is His nature to give. And as followers of Jesus we should be givers as well. God gave His eternal peace to us when He sent His son Jesus to come and be born in humble circumstances and to ultimately die to rescue mankind. Jesus was born in humble circumstances to say the least. However, He was born or how He died, He is returning as King. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. No one is above Him. All things are at His feet. The fourth gift God gave us was Jesus as our King!.

God gave His eternal peace to us when He sent His son Jesus to come and be born in humble circumstances and to ultimately die to rescue mankind. Jesus was born to die to live again so we could live to die and be born again. All that gives us a peace, that the world envies and desperately needs. "Peace and goodwill to all mankind" was the announcement that the angels herald on that beautiful, fateful night that no one but Heaven truly knew what it meant. But today we do and that peace we celebrate and live in to the glory of Jesus who gives that glory to the Father God.
