The Church of Jesus Christ is a family. The Family was God's idea and not a man-made construct. When we treat each other with detestation, dislike, animosity, and abhorrence, it breaks the Father's heart and He takes it personally. Why? Because His love for us is strong and wants our love for one another to be strong. We are His children. We can and will disagree but we must not disrespect. We must see each other in the body of Christ through the same lens God sees us. That lens is love and honor. It is a personal thing to God and to each other when we destroy and devour one another. The world will know that we are His followers by our love one for another.

Jesus Christ is, by all accounts, and by just about all scholars and historians, one of the most, if not the most, influential person that has ever lived. However, Jesus was simple. Not a simple minded man but a very clear man on His motives and His mission. Jesus looked at Peter, John, and the other disciples and simply said, "Come, follow me!" It wasn't a question, or a command but an invitation. "Come follow Me, and I'll make you fishers of men." That invitation still stands today. Follow Jesus and you will be like Him and just like Paul said, you and I can say, "follow me as I follow Christ." No arrogance in the statement, just an invitation.

We are living in a world that has no collective self-control. If it feels good do it. Is the mantra of a world on fire. Discipline is not touted as a virtue but a hindrance to getting what you want. If you want it take it so says the world around us. However, as servants and followers of Jesus Christ self-control is not just a virtue but one of the fruits of the Spirit. In this current age we can't walk in self-control without the power of the Holy Spirit residing within, and empowering us to do so. It's time we pull ourselves together and live a life of divine discipline and self-control that brings life to us all.

We are living in a world that has set itself up against all that is righteous and holy and have embraced the opposite of all that Jesus Christ stands for. Good is bad, righteous is wicked, and wicked is to be admired. How can we as followers of Jesus (Christians) live triumphant in such a world? Jesus' world was really no different that what we live in today. Same desires and sins just done in a different way. Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection empowered us to live not just above all the fray but to be triumphant in life. Why? So that God would be praised and those around us would see Jesus for who He really is.

The Israelites were promised a land flowing with milk and honey when they left Egypt. However, they ran into trouble along the way. Ups and downs, curve balls thrown their way as well as they themselves, messing this up. But a few of the faithful and courageous men and one in particular stood on God's word that He would provide; Caleb. Caleb said "give me this mountain". Not in a selfish and egotistical way but with authority and power because God had made a promise to His people that He would not nor could He break. So, Caleb with the authority of God's promise declared what was impossible with man was possible with God.

The Family was God's idea, not a man made institution. God our Father spoke everything into existence. He however, created man from the dirt of the earth and breathed His breath of life into us making us a living soul with His life within us. That is why we crave the voice of the Father because we are created to long for it. That is why so many people are reeling from the lack of hearing their earthly Father's voice. If that voice is so craved and needed, how much more should we desire to hear our heavenly Father's voice?
