God is a giver. It is His nature to give. And as followers of Jesus we should be givers as well. God gave the ultimate gift when He gave His Son to be the ransom for our sins and life. Jesus wanted to come to us so that God Himself could be with us that is why Jesus is call Immanuel, which actually means God is with us. The second gift God gives to us is His presence through the indwelling Holy Spirit. The power of God lives in us and gives us the strength to be the men, women, young people and children He has called us to be.

Jesus didn't lay His life down begrudgingly but laid it down willingly because of His love for mankind. Salvation is the perfect and most amazing Gift He could ever gift us. Why? Because everything else that He gives hinges on salvation. Without salvation what are the gifts of the Spirit? Without salvation what are the blessings that He gives? The gift of salvation is the gift of Christmas!

We live in a world of tension to say the least. However, haven't we been living in a world of tension since the beginning of time? Yes, good and evil. Cain and Able. Roman and the rest of the world. Old ways versus new technology. You get the picture. Today is no different. But it is for followers of Jesus Christ. We live with hope in the midst of tension. Actually we can live with joy, peace, love, and patience in a world that has lost it's mind. We can bring all that and more to the world around us as we submit our lives to the only one who can empower us to live above it all, Jesus.

Thanksgiving is not a holiday we celebrate but a lifestyle we live because Jesus has changed our life. Jesus has given us a new perspective, a new understanding, a new mind, a new spirit, and a new heart. We have been changed from the inside out. Our focus has changed. We now can see what He sees and how He sees. When we focus on what God focuses on there is power in that. That power is Thanksgiving.

Jesus is the good shepherd. Not just any shepherd but "the good" shepherd. The one and only true and good shepherd. You get it. He is good. If that is so and we truly believe He is good. Then why do we worry, fret, get anxious, fearful, the list could go on for a while. Many followers of Jesus believe that Jesus "can" but they don't truly believe that He "will". Remember Jesus has our best interest at heart so we don't have to. Meaning we can fully and completely trust that Jesus is going to take care of us. The 23rd Psalm is one of the most famous passages of scripture in the world. Probably one of the most quoted scriptures as well. But it more than a literary piece but it's truth. Gut level, in your face, truth. Pastor Allen breaks down this Psalm to make it more real and applicable to our everyday lives.
